The strength of a team derives from the integrity of its members. And so, the team from Harrison Miller and Schwartz renewed their commitment to one another as one team in their team building program held at Mountain View Nature Park at Busay, Cebu City, facilitated by Cebu Teambuilding Facilitators Network. Harrison Miller and Schwartz Corporation is a franchise premium dealer of Globe Telecomunications Inc. They have several branches within Cebu including Globe Robinsons Cybergate, Globe Parkmall in Mandaue and Globe Gaisano Carcar.

Team Building Program Preliminaries
The seminar started with a message from the Manager who also introduced the facilitators for the team building program. The facilitators started the seminar with Getting-To-Know-You Activities using Unique Handshakes where participants get to grab a pair and execute different handshakes according to the mechanics of the activity. This was followed by leveling off expectations and training rules for the entire day. The participants agreed to the rules and thus rules have become a common agreement between participants and facilitators.

The participants, already divided according to their respective stores and color of their shirt, were tasked to create a Team Cheer and a Statement presenting their team. Teams demonstrated their energy and enthusiasm in their different team cheers and varying team statements, most of which committed to being strong, competitive, determined, the best, and striving to be united in Greatness. A short break followed after all the team were done with their presentations and exact time was announced when the participants would be back.
Reflection
A short reflective activity about Integrity immediately followed the moment participants were not ready by the designated time given by the facilitators. The facilitator pointed out that all the teams had very inspiring and strong statements, however, it was also mentioned it is very easy to create inspirational commitments but not really commit in doing them.
The simple example of time can easily be taken for granted. From time in relation to tardiness, to time in finishing reports, time in setting goals and reaching them, and time in relation to business relationships and promises. It has been said that “You are what you do, not what you say you’ll do”. The strength of a team derives from the integrity of its members. And if individual members do not commit to what they say will do, the team, even the organization will eventually crumble. Integrity then is the foundation of an organization’s success and excellence.
This was then connected to a short lecture about Organizational Energy, and how individual commitments affect the entire organization as a whole. The lecture was immediately followed by the Blind Polygon activity whereas teams, without the aid of vision, are to create a desired polygon in their place using ropes.

A sumptuous lunch followed after the activity, and a short recap and energizer was done in order to bring back to life the participants’ energy. The Rope Bridge activity followed. This activity requires participants to make a bridge using the ropes provided to them and transferring a plastic ball and a tennis ball from Point A to Point B. This activity is particularly difficult for participants when instructions were first laid out. However, all the teams were able to accomplish the tasks.

The last activity was Everybody Up where the team were tasked to find a way for everyone to stand up in united fashion but have their backs against one another. This activity cemented the team’s commitment to another since it took a lot of perseverance, team work and sacrifice in providing necessary support for team members to accomplish the goal.
