Team Building Activities We Did For Silver Dragon Construction, Lumber, and Glass Supply in Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental, Philippines

Before Cebu Teambuilding Facilitators Network founder Thadz Engaling left to migrate to the United States of America, he accompanied two facilitators to a business trip to Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental in late May 2016.

They were there to facilitate a team building program for leaders of Silver Dragon Construction. The event was held at the company owners' rest house along the beach in Himamaylan City. The theme of the activity was "Monitoring and Measurement + Ownership = Success". It was attended by around 50 participants.

Following were the activities they did for one of Negros Island Region's biggest construction companies:

Worlds' Records

As a getting to know activity, an activity called World's Records was employed. Participants were asked to arrange themselves according to categories identified by facilitators. These were birthdays, shoe sizes, and number of romantic relationships. After each round, each participant finds that he or she is beside another pair of persons. They are then given the opportunity to get to know better the persons beside them.

Helium Ring

This was an activity that lets participants become aware of their team dynamics. This exercise allowed participants to build on their team strengths. It also allowed them to work on areas where improvement is needed.

Ball Game

Also referred to as warp speed, this activity tests the participants resolve to improve the status quo. Too often, people settle with how things have been done. Unless we provide them the right challenge to improve how things are done.

Minefield

One of the activities that participants really had fun with was the minefield activity. It is an activity that relied heavily on trust and effective communication. The mechanics were to have people with closed eyes cross an obstacle-laden area through the instructions of their colleagues.
