CTFN Affiliates Facilitate Sales and Marketing Seminar for Fabulosa de Fashion in Cebu City, Philippines

Information is a great source of learning. But unless it is organized, processed, and available to the right people in a format, it is a burden, not a benefit. Conducted by Cebu Teambuilding Facilitators Network, this was a Sales and Marketing Seminar for the 13 participants from Fabulosa de Fashion to upgrade their Sales and Marketing skills in their own respective branches.

Fabulosa de Fashion is a company with a chain of clothing stores around Metro Cebu. The stores primarily sell used clothing. Don’t get the word “used” dissatisfy you because these items are surely pre-loved. Their products do not disappoint. From Giordano & Bossini to Levis & Tommy Hilfiger, these stores may sell items that were previously owned, but prices and quality of their items really gives you that bang for the buck feeling – a feeling that is always desired when one is on a shopping spree. 

Seminar Venue: Aicila Suites

The training was conducted at Aicila Suites, Talamban, Cebu City, Philippines. It’s a hotel situated in the crossroads of Talamban and Cabangcalan. The hotel features guests’ rooms and suites that provide free internet access. Balkon Bar and Family KTV is also situated within the Aicila Suites building which provides a number of rooms for Karaoke and Wii games. 


Getting to Know Activities

Although the training was not a full blown team building experience, there’s always some team dynamics check in whatever training one provides. It would be such a waste for teams to upgrade their technical skills in different management areas such as sales and marketing but couldn’t effectively use those skills due to a lack of team dynamics awareness with their co-workers.

The training started with some Getting-to-Know-You Activites with the participants. Although they came from the same company, most of the participants were assigned to different branches so these kinds of activities are very handy in breaking the ice and creating that friendly atmosphere for more serious activities. A lecture of Expressive Sending and Empathic Responding was then discussed to the participants. Since Sales & Marketing is almost always creating a good impression with your clients, communication is key to making a positive outlook which brings the client closer to a sale. Thus it is vital that sales people know how to engage in meaningful conversations with their clients. Several activities such as Role Playing and Ball Game were then enacted in order to allow the participants get in touch with their new learning on communication. 

Resource Person: Carlo Andrew Olano

Carlo Andrew Olano is an accomplished sales and marketing professional. His sales and marketing background included very successful stints in selling cars and real estate. Recently, his foray into digital marketing has earned him the distinction as one of Cebu's top food blogger and digital marketers. It is but apt for Mr. Olano to be the resource person giving a talk on sales and marketing to the 13 participants during the sales and marketing seminar for Fabulosa de Fashion employees.

Carlo Andrew Olano Talks About Sales and Marketing

A lecture on Sales & Marketing was conducted by Mr. Carlo Andrew Olano. This is where more in-depth learning starts. Sales & Marketing as a science and art can really be intimidating with all different models and strategies aimed to target a specific market in order to drive sales up and reach business goals. However, the speaker was able to handle the entire lecture in such a way that it made sales & marketing not that intimidating anymore. It even sounds a lot more fun now. The training ended with a small commitment activity in order to solidify whatever commitment each participant has for the company and how that commitment will be used in order to further business goals.

Sales and Marketing can be summarized in a concrete experience that says “If you are not taking care of your customer, your competitor will”. Thus in order to succeed and move forward, allow me to enlighten you with a quote from Mary Kay Ash that says “Pretend that every single person you meet has a sign around his or her neck that says, ‘Make me feel important’. Not only will one succeed in sales, one will succeed in life.”
